It is very hard to get a hold of a cup of excellence coffee, and even harder to secure a little bit of the winning lot like this one! (see our transparency report to learn more)

This coffee is delightful and complex, and for good reason: Jose is a master at processing coffee.

Harvested during a Full Moon to maximize sugar content, it''s followed by a 12hr oxidation period. After this, it's fermented in yeast (Sacharomyces Cereviceae for the geeks) for 72hr.
Jose then closely monitor drying, starting with 2 days in the sun, followed by 26 days on African raised beds.
Finally, the coffee will rest in a stable environment (stabilization period) for 25 days before being vacuum sealed.

This coffee tastes like so many things that it's hard to make a description that makes sense! So bear with us, there are a lot of sensory stimulus going on with this one ;-)

The fragrance is out of this world and sets the table for a unique experience: it's full of fresh berries and roses.

This roast can take you in so many directions.
The ripe grapes can make the wine aficionado get cabernet or merlot vibes. We also get loads of strawberry and raspberry. The acidity reminds us of fresh a nectarine.

It's a very complex coffee that also let crazy things surface. We noticed some strong and unusual flavours like glazed balsamic and pink pepper, and a subtle pecan note in the aftertaste.

We do not often buy lots that are this expensive, but this was maybe a once in a couple of years opportunity. We also buy other lots from Jose, and it was important for us to showcase his best work of the year!
