Our commitment to farmer Ali Zaid continues as for the third year, we bring you 100% of his production. 2 harvests ago low yield year across the region meant Ali only produced 30kg.
Last harvest, better weather and the beginning of ripening from his new trees (via the Qima nursery project) meant 51kg was available for us to buy.

This year, we are happy to have 66kg of his delicious coffee available.

It's easier for farmer to keep all of their production for exports if they know they have a committed partner in Qima, and a committed buyer in Rabbit Hole. When the uncertainty of finding a good price and a committed group of buyers is gone, farmers like Ali can focus on their crop and farm management so they can produce more, and better coffee.
With his family's help on the farm, they produce an incredibly clean and sweet profile.

We have committed to buy his full production for as long as he is happy selling it to us.

We love coffees that feel complex, yet also instantly feel like a classic! We can drink this Yemeni lot all day, every day. Approachable complexity is what makes our favourite coffee origin so unique.

It offers so much depth that each cup feels different if you feel like exploring. It can also be brewed in so many different ways.

The coffee is bright but balanced, and the acidity reminds us of apricot and meyer lemon, with a hint (according to David) of mulberry.

The finish is dessert like, thanks to the pure brown sugar and roasted pecan impressions.
There is also something reminiscent of brown and red spices in the finish, think cinnamon and nutmeg.

With the war still affecting many regions, it's very hard and pricy to get coffee out of the country.
